Everything you need to know about your Pinterest Analytics and How to use it
We will start with the basic first. You might have noticed that on your Pinterest Home page, there are two important elements that can be found namely Monthly Viewers and Monthly engaged. If a viewer go to your profile, that person will not only see your monthly viewers but also your number of followers (but not your monthly engaged). So, you need to know about what Monthly Viewers, Monthly engaged and Followers actually means in order to be successful in Pinterest.
You must have seen that monthly viewers keeps on increasing (if you have done your SEO properly) and you are wondering why my monthly viewers are increasing but my number of followers are the same. Well, you need to know that monthly viewers and followers are two different things. Your primary mission is to increase your monthly viewers. If your monthly viewer increases, this means your pins are reaching alot of viewers. So, basically this is the number of people who have seen your pins on their home feed when they have conducted a search in Pinterest in a specific niche or because they have simply looked at your profile. If when the viewers conduct a search and your pin appears on their home feed as the result of the search then this means that your usage of keywords & hashtags have been going well but this does not mean that the people who sees your pin will click, saves your pins, which leads me to the second element you need to understand, namely Monthly engaged.
You must have seen that your monthly viewers are increasing but your monthly engaged remained the save, which is worst thing to happen to a person doing business on Pinterest. WHY IS THAT? Well, Monthly engaged is actually the number of people who actually engaged with your pins by either clicking on your pins, saving your pins, repining it, commenting on your pin or clicking on the affiliate links in your pins. Your Pin showing up on their home feed (which is denoted by an increase in Monthly viewers) is not enough, you need them to take action in regard to your pins (which will result in increase in Monthly Engaged) If you are an affiliate Marketer, then Monthly engaged is very important for you because if your monthly engaged increases this mean the viewers are either saving, repinning or clicking on your affiliate links and maybe help you generate income if they purchase a product you recommended. So, according to me Monthly Engaged is way more important than Monthly Viewers for someone trying to do business on Pinterest because what the use of getting viewers when the viewers are not taking any action. If you had a personal Pinterest Account, then Monthly viewers would have been something of great importance because you didn't intent to make money out of Pinterest. DO YOU GET MY POINT. The SEO is doing its job in bringing you viewers. Now its your turn to make the viewer engage with your pins by either creating pin which are trending in your niche, making the pin attractive enough to get clicks, to showcase unique product to generate curiosity among the viewers and forcing them to know more about the product. Here, you need to devise your own strategy and make your product sellable. Having millions of viewers don't mean that the person has million of clicks, saves and repins
What I have learnt about followers is that having large amount of followers does not make any difference on Pinterest unlike other social platform or on youtube where number of subscribers are everything. You may have a small number of followers but a large number of Monthly viewers, which is a great things because you can still reach a massive audience without having large number of followers. Let me ask you something. What's the use of large number of followers when your monthly engaged is low and because of that you are either not getting any traffic to your blog or website or not generating any income if you are an affiliate marketer on Pinterest because the followers are not clicking on your links. I am not saying having large number of followers is wrong but from a marketing point of view, you need to get loyal followers who are genuinely interested in your content on Pinterest and interact with your Pins. (That's the reason why I say let people follow you in the first place. Don't go ahead and follow 1000 of people a day just to get followers because those are not genuine followers, who found you out of the blue and find you interested enough to follow but rather followed you as a favour for following them.) You need to have the right audience who are genuinely interested in your content just so you can get the click to your affiliate link or website or blog because when you create a new pin, your followers will instantly get it on their feed (which you can say can prove to be beneficial for you if you have large number of followers- if numbers are that important to you). Create Pins which will increase your Monthly engaged. Followers and Monthly Viewers will increase if your pins are attractive enough, if your profile is professional enough and if your SEO is strong enough. What's challenging is to increase your Monthly engaged One thing I want to tell you that for me a huge jump in the Monthly viewers made me super happy because It made me feel that my hardwork is paying off especially after changing my strategy I found my Monthly engaged increasing (because there was an increase in monthly viewers and I got real loyal raw followers but my monthly engage was not that high until I made a change in my strategy) Let's get even deeper with the Analytics: Click on Analytics and then on overview These numbers are pretty vague and what I have seen is that it does not show actually what is happening with your Pinterest account. There is your Pinterest Profile, People You Reach and lastly is Activity from your website or blog (as i have not connected any blog or website, this one is disabled for me which will be the same case for those of you who are doing Pinterest Affiliate Marketing without a blog or website) Your Pinterest Profile consist of Av. daily Impression which are like the number for monthly viewers, that is it refers to your pins/images and profile, where the viewer has seen your pins on their feed but without clicking on the pins. Now you will see that Avg. monthly viewers here is different than that on your home page, well it is because here it is the AVERAGE Monthly Viewers. So, when you see increase in Impression just know that it is the same as monthly viewers that people see your pin but didn't take any action in regard to your pins. Now, if the people see your pin and did take action then not only will the daily impression increase but also the avg. monthly engaged will also increase. Let's talk about Audience Insights What should I say about Audience Analytics. For me, it's just a way to stalk all pinterest users especially my audience and to know what they are search for, what they like in my profile, which age group are more active on my profile or in general which age group are more active in a specific niche. This is very important to know your audience if you want to build a business around that same audience. You need to know the interest of your audience and also that of the Pinterest Users so that you can build you business around that interest. So you will Your audience, which are the people who found your profile or your followers and what they actually looked at in your profile, from which country they are from, which is very important because then you can create product which will be of interest to those people. Then you have All Pinterest Users which show the categories and interest of all the users on Pinterest which is a plus if you are searching for a niche and sub niche (I have explained this part in my Guide on how to start Pinterest Affiliate Marketing) One important thing I want to point out here, which I don't know whether it happened with everyone or it is just me but in the audience Insights, the Your audience feature was blank for approximately 3 weeks. It is only today when I am writing this blog that the data was added to Your Audience. This is because I just started this business account and it need time to collect information because it said that "Your total audience includes all users who have seen or engaged with any of your Pins in the last 30 days." Now that I think about it I can see the common sense but back when I started the business account and saw my Pinterest growing I thought I will get the result immediately on Your Audience but no, it took time. Maybe you are like me and asking why nothing is showing up. I will tell you only one thing is to JUST WAIT . You will get the data within 3 weeks. That's it for today. Please keep in mind that I am by mo mean an expert in the field of Pinterest Marketing but just a learner who wants to share her experience, lessons, tips and mistakes with you.
